US Grade 4 - 6
New to Outschool? Use code: MsRiot20 for $20 to use against any class. Learners will join a weekly spelling lesson, where we will explore a different set of words each week. During the 40 minute lesson, they will be introduced to the 10 weekly words before playing the online spelling game. They are playing a friendly competition, where they are rewarded for accuracy of the spelling and typing speed. There is friendly competition involved with the game, which proves very motivating for some learners. Other learners can find online competitions too stressful - so do please consider whether this style of learning suits your learner. Learners will have access to the fun online game for the whole week that they have subscribed to, allowing them to practice their spellings throughout the week. I am able to see how often your learner has logged in and accurately they are spelling the provided words. IMPORTANT - Learners should have logged into the game at least once before the first lesson starts. This helps minimize technical challenges during the live game. I provide full instructions. PLEASE NOTE - It appears that the game does not load in Taiwan. If I am able to find a solution to this, I will update this instantly. Other Details
Pre-Requisites
Learners will need to access an online game during the lesson. This will be a second window or tab. When played on a computer or laptop the game also supports the development of typing speed. It can be fiddly to play on a phone.
Supply List
Learners will be provided with a log in to the online spelling game. For the week that they are enrolled, they can play the games online as often as they like. The game is far better on a computer or laptop. On a phone it can be fiddly to play. During the lesson, learners will access the game, for a live game with their classmates. They will use a different window or screen to do so. They should mute themselves whilst playing a live game.

I'm Ms. Riot, a creative teacher (certified, qualified and experienced) from London, England. My teaching adventure began at university with the completion of my 4-year degree (Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Primary Education) back in 2007.
In the UK, we achieve our QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) through additional exams and proven experience which I also achieved in 2007. My dissertation allowed me to carry out research into how we can motivate young learners to want to read more. I completed one of my student teaching placements in Arizona, USA and I worked as the Literacy Lead for two summers at a not-for-profit camp in New York, USA.
As an elementary classroom teacher, I developed creative classrooms where students felt safe enough to fail. My passion for reading also allowed me to develop a new career as a high school librarian, teaching reading lessons across the school. I have also taught students English up to the age of 16 at a prestigious online school.
More recently, I have worked within the learning department in a large museum, teaching at a range of online schools and designing curriculum for education resource companies. I also deliver lectures to trainee teachers.
At the heart of my teaching philosophy lies a belief that learning should be an adventure, sprinkled with curiosity and laughter. We can be serious about learning without it always being too serious.
