Spelling is sometimes the step-child of writing. "We aren't concerned about spelling. We are looking for content." Yes content is important. But in order for content to come across appropriately to the reader, the writer should be able to spell content correctly. Spelling is often taught by having students write the words over and over with the idea in mind that the more you spell it, the better you will become at spelling the words. Students will learn spelling rules. Students will learn tips and tricks to become better spellers. Students will spell words.
Students will be encouraged to practice tips and tricks when they spell.
A set of words will be sent for each session.
Assessment is spelling at the end of each class.
35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
