Description

Class Experience

Students will learn to spell words that third graders should master before going on to fourth grade.
Students may study their spelling words any time after class.
1 one-subject spiral bound notebook 2 sharpened pencils 3 distinctly different colored crayons (darker colors are best)
Weekly spelling quizzes, followed by review if necessary.
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
For the kinesthetic portion of each class, we do certain body movements like raising up arms for tall letters, extending arms to the side for letters that lie on the line and bringing them down to our sides for letters with tail (i.e. g, j, p and y). These movement routines are no more strenuous than doing the "Hokey Pokey." In my experience as a certified teacher, this method is consistently successful in a child's long-term success in spelling retention.
