Class Experience

🎉Does your student struggle passing spelling tests? Do they write them 10 times each, rainbow write, look at them and try to memorize the letters and nothing seems to make it click? This class is for them!

In this ongoing class, students will bring at least 3 words from their weekly spelling lists to bring to our study club. We will use phonics knowledge, orthographic mapping, and phonics rules to learn to spell not only these words, but many words!
Students will learn through explicit and systematic teaching via Google Slides and/or whiteboard how to break words apart by sounds and syllables (depending on grade level) and learn typical spellings, types of syllables and their spellings, and parts that will need to me memorized (known my heart.) This class will be taught with the I do, We do, You do strategy when spelling.
Students will need to be in 1-2 grade or working on this level with spelling and at least know all letter sounds.

⭐️I have another class for 3-5 graders. The ages are set to flexible in case you have a 3rd grader who needs to go back to the basics. Likewise, you could possibly have a 1st grader working on a 4th grade level.

-Class routine will be as follows:
-Greeting/Expectations
-Round Robin-Direct teach/practice- students provide 1 spelling word at a time (until time runs out). We will work through the breakdown of this word and try similar words.
-Goodbye

I hope to see you soon!

👉🏼CLASSROOM POLICIES:
-Please try to be on time. In the case of a screen sharing class, it may be difficult to help late students if they need.
-Be sure students have on shirts and bottoms (if it is a dancing/moving class).
-I don’t always mute students, but I will if the background is too noisy. Please be sure your student knows how to unmute when it is time.

👉🏼PARENTS/CARETAKERS:
Please be sure to stay off camera as much as possible for the comfort and safety of all learners.

👉🏼SIBLINGS:
I can accommodate for siblings if the class is age appropriate by opening another slot, upon request. If the sibling is not enrolled in the class, please be sure they are not seen on camera. If more than one sibling is enrolled, they may share 1 device.

👉🏼REFUNDS:
I do not often offer refunds for missed classes (unless I miss). Outschool uploads our class video after every class and students will be able to view the class later. If you must miss an ongoing class you can choose to unenroll by Sunday to avoid payment, but the spot may or may not be filled when ready to re-enroll. Otherwise, you can refer to the video.

👉🏼FEEDBACK:
I am working on building a set of classes that are fun, engaging, and meaningful. Please message me with how I can make my classes better if you are willing. I ask that problems come to me first to see if I can solve them. I am a very caring and passionate teacher and I just ask for a chance to offer satisfaction.

HAVE FUN!
