Parental Guidance
We will be using a 3rd party tool, Kahoot! Parents and Students can download the Kahoot app from your device's app store or simply type, kahoot.it, in the device's browser.
After each 25 minute spelling lesson, the teacher and students will follow up that day's lesson and help students practice the spelling words. A Kahoot account will not be required because the teacher will provide the "join game code" that will take the students straight to the game. Each student will use a "nickname" during the spelling game. For privacy reasons, students are not allowed to share their "nicknames" with the other students.
The teacher chose to use the Kahoot app because of it's safety, privacy, engaging, and ad-free environment.
Students will not be required to set up a Kahoot account or share any personal information, including emails.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello and Welcome to my Outschool page! I'm, Amy Miles, from East Texas. This school year of 2021-22 will be my 26th year as a Texas Certified educator in grades pre-K through 8th grade. For 23 years, I taught in the Brick and Mortar Texas Public Schools as a kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 5th-grade teacher. I'm excited to start my 3rd year teaching with Outschool as a spelling, photography, and brain break educator. My grandmother and mom were teachers for over 30 years so I enjoyed spending the many summers and after school helping both of them get their classrooms ready and prepare for their students. I'm so thankful to my grandmother and mom for their support and encouragement to become a teacher.
I'm very passionate about teaching and helping others. God has blessed me with this gift so that I can share it with others. I received my Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a specialization in Reading from Texas A&M at Commerce, August 1997. I love finding fun new ways to engage my students and help them learn that anything is possible if you set your mind to it. I'm constantly researching, learning new methods, attending workshops, or joining educational groups on Facebook to enhance each of my lessons so that my students are receiving a fun quality lesson.
Besides teaching, I'm a Christian, mom, wife, entrepreneur, and pet health/wellness advisor. My son is a freshman at his school. My family and I enjoy supporting my son, Kason, in the FFA program, Band, Cross Country/Track Runner, Basketball, and in all his other activities. At the end of the year 8th-grade graduation, we celebrated Kason's Valedictorian recognition and speech.
If you are searching for a loving, caring, passionate, knowledgeable, experienced, and fun teacher, I invite you to come to attend some of my classes. Be sure to read the amazing reviews my Outschool parents and students have shared. Each day is a blessing when I can help someone learn and smile!
Please feel free to message me if you have any questions or requests!
All the best,
Amy Miles
