Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 3

In these spelling classes; I will start the class by teaching the students different ways to learn to how to spell the words we talking about that day. Students will receive a handout to print off to use in this class. I will then give 15 clues to the students; they will answer the clues and spell the words on their paper. We will check the spelling of the words and then the students will look at all the words, take the marked letters, and form the Mystery Question. 
Week 1, In this class we will practice spelling words using "ou/ow".
Week 2, In this class we will practice spelling words that start with "au" and short "o". 
Week 3, In this class we will practice spelling words with Prefixes.
Week 4, In this class we will practice spelling words with Suffixes.
Week 5, In this class we will practice spelling words with "y"; we will show how it is sometimes makes a vowel sound and sometimes a consonant sound. 
At the end of class we will talk about the Mystery Question and students will have some fun sharing together. 
Students will enjoy this class if they can write their letters and have knowledge of vowel and consonant sounds.

Hello, my name is Parri! 
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass. 
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person. 
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
