Beginner Level
In this ongoing summer camp. students will learn and practice spelling rules. The classes do not build upon each other so you can join anytime. During each class, students will learn a new spelling rule. They will practice the spelling rule and play a game. Below is a breakdown of each class: ***** Introduction ***** I will introduce students to the spelling rule that we will be practicing. I will show a chart that explains the spelling rule. Then, I will model the spelling rule with a few words. ***** Practice Spelling ***** Students will practice spelling 5 words using the spelling rule. I will give each word and the group will use the spelling rule to determine how to spell each word. ***** Correct the Spelling Activity ***** Students will be given a few spelling words. They will determine if the words are spelled correctly or not by using the spelling rule. Students will explain how to spell the incorrect words correctly with the spelling rule. ***** Spelling Game ***** Students will play a spelling game. Games will vary each class.
