Class Experience

Are you wondering if your child is reading and spelling at, above, or below grade level?  Let me help answer your questions!  Using a succession of spelling lists, grade-level sight word lists, and leveled reading passages with corresponding comprehension questions, I can see where your child's instructional reading level is.  This level will be provided to you in terms of Lexile, grade level, age, DRA, and Fountas & Pinnell levels so you can make the best decisions for your child's reading...

Students will be assessed in their spelling and reading levels to determine their instructional reading level.

I am a licensed elementary teacher with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  I have over 11 years of experience with assessing and teaching literacy skills.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I will use a succession of increasingly challenging spelling lists that include short vowels, digraphs, long vowels, diphthongs, and more, grade-level sight word lists, and leveled reading passages with corresponding comprehension questions to determine your child's instructional reading level.  I will then provide you with the results in a variety of formats including Lexile, grade level, age, DRA, and Fountas & Pinnell levels so you can make the best decisions for your child's reading instruction.

30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
