Welcome to Let's Build Words Kindergartners! In this one-time class the students will use blocks, paper, or magnetic letters to make simple words. The students will review names of letters, sounds and be guided through the process of blending sounds together to make words. They will add and delete letters to make simple to more complex words. By the end of the lesson students will be able to use the same letters to make multiple words. The lesson will be an interactive lesson with students...
Students will review letters, sounds and learn how to blend sounds to make words. They will understand how they can change one letter in a word to make a new word. Student will learn how to spell kindergarten level words and how they can use rhyming to spell words.
I've taught kindergarten, first grade, and K-6 special education for over fifteen years in public schools. I'm now a College Professor who teaches elementary reading classes to college students.
You'll need the letters: a, d, n, s, t. The letters can be magnet letters or pieces of paper. The students can write each letter on a small piece of paper (2x2) or small post-its work great too!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The learner is assessed through informal observation. When requested, specific feedback will be given on their child's success in the class.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
