Fortnite is an incredibly complicated game that requires a lot of skill, and therefore a lot of discipline to develop that skill. In this class we will work on Fortnite skills ranging from building/editing to teamwork and game sense. In everything that we do and say, we will strive to create and uphold a positive and encouraging community. Most classes will be in two parts: Part 1, 30 minutes: skills-practice, e.g. aim training or an edit course Part 2, 60 minutes: we'll break into squads and either scrim against each other in creative maps or play public trios or squads. This should allow enough time for three full matches. Each session topic will be learner-directed, or dictated weekly by current events/happenings within Fortnite (the game is updated frequently, so there are always new things to explore!). Every so often we may have a friendly competition like a 90s race or a box-fight showdown! Dr. Sandham will keep time for the class, facilitate class discussion and activities, help all learners follow the code of conduct, and most importantly model the code of conduct for the class. No ability level is required, all skill-levels are welcome!
Learning Goals
This social club is dedicated to fostering the core skills of the game of Fortnite, building, editing, aiming, and game-sense (strategic decision-making).

Supply List
Students will need one of the following: Nintendo switch console; Xbox console; Playstation console; PC or MAC computer. They will need to have Fortnite installed and/or updated prior to class. They will need a headset/microphone so they can hear the game and communicate with their teammates. Zoom audio and video will remain on for the duration of the class (so that our interactions are recorded), but we won't be using the zoom room to communicate because there's not a great way for console players to both hear the game audio *and* zoom audio. MAC and PC players can easily hear both if they are playing and using zoom on the same device, but console players will be using two devices and I'm not aware of a way to listen to two devices simultaneously through one pair of headphones. Fortunately, Fortnite has in-game voice chat that can be restricted to the members of your party - we will not be joining any servers where anyone outside the class can communicate with us. Students will join the zoom room with audio and video on, but can simply turn their device volume down and communicate via in-game audio.
