This is a continuous class that seeks to introduce, develop, and grow the important skills of speech and debate.

Class experience

Students will learn and develop presentation skills including: 1) eye contact, 2) voice (volume and inflection), 3) gestures (facial and hands) and 4) sign posting (organizational skills).

Critical thinking skills will be developed in writing arguments.

Writing skills will be developed in the writing of speeches and debates.
Homework Offered
There may be on occasion a need for students to write a speech to present at the following meeting. There will be no more than 1 hour of homework required each week (if any homework is required).
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
An oral assessment of the speeches and debates will be presented at the end of each presentation. Each student will receive at least two compliments (assessment of two things done well) and two encouragements for improvement for next time.
