Special Effects Makeup (SFX) How to do SFX makeup effects like scars, bruises, zombie effects, and more out of cotton balls, paper towels, wax, spirit gum, liquid latex, and fake blood, repurposed or recycled materials, makeup, paper, and/or other easily accessible & affordable materials.
3 files available upon enrollmentTeacher will provide a detailed list of products and tools they will be using. However, teachers emphasize ingenuity and improvisation. There are many ways to achieve the same makeup look and teacher will help students to find a suitable substitution found within their own makeup kits. For students that don't have any professional SFX products or tools of their own, we have included an informative supply list to help you choose which products to begin with. Additionally, we provide all students with a printable facechart and vision board. Students will need a quiet, organized, well lit workspace. Commonly Used SFX Makeup Tools: Scissors, spirit gum, hot glue gun & glue, lip liner, liquid latex, fake blood, cotton balls, kitchen towel, body/ face paints (cream or water based), variety of eyeshadows, make up, makeup sponges, and makeup brushes.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parental supervision is recommended. Please be aware that some students may find SFX makeup effects disturbing. Students may be required to use scissors, liquid latex, fake blood, prosthetics, spirit gum. Please be aware of possible allergic reactions. We ask that a parent/guardian assist students if they will be using a hot glue gun. Please be aware that makeup artists often utilize their neck and chest as a canvas for bodypaint. Students and teachers may wear a sleeveless shirt. SFX Makeup is a respected art form and we will not be discussing or joking about those who are suffering in real life.
