Description
Class Experience
This Spanish 1C course follows first year Spanish in secondary school (middle school or high school). This is not an immersion class, it is taught in English but we speak a lot of Spanish. Topics discussed: thematic vocabulary (clothing, colors, weather, seasons, classroom, school schedule, places, sports, telling time) that builds on verbs + verb conjugations, writing, reading, listening and speaking, all with the goal that students will be able to communicate in the language. The plan of...
(1) pronounce our vocabulary correctly in Spanish, (2) converse in Spanish daily (3) listen effectively + speak like a native (4) occasionally write at first, and later with more confidence Students will practice daily, using a variety of strategies, sentences, conjugations, definition, and vocabulary for a variety of topics. Students will learn to describe their families (and other people) using vocabulary that is culturally appropriate. Students will learn to describe popular activities, weather, and their favorite activities in all 4 seasons. Students will apply their learning during each class session to use and create using the Spanish language. Students will ask questions and get the support they need to flourish. Students will feel good about their learning as a result. They will feel successful.
Optional: write down the questions/answers from each session in a notebook.
