Students often want to know how to say random words. ¿Cómo se dice? means How do you say? in Spanish. They will have the opportunity to use this expression within the guidelines and expectations of the categories we will cover. These expressions will be exchanged with the teacher as well as other classmates. We will begin the class with a list of terms that I will provide, followed by the repetition of those terms, concentrating on pronunciation. Later, students will have the opportunity to help build the vocabulary list by asking how to say certain words within each category. Week 1: Colors (red, blue, green, students may add to the list); School (book, notebook, pencil, students may add to the list; Food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, students may add to the list); Clothing (clothing, shirt, blouse, students may add to the list); Home (kitchen, bedroom, living room, students may add to the list). Hello, Students! My name is Rita, and I am excited about being your online Spanish or English teacher! I have been teaching for 29 years and tutoring in various subjects for many of those years, including in-person private teaching and tutoring as well as online domestic and international teaching and mentoring. I have served in private, charter, and public schools in the traditional classroom. For most of my career, I have taught levels 1 and 2 of Spanish. Teaching Spanish and learning other languages is my passion, and I look forward to sharing that passion with you.
I am a native English speaker and consider myself an English grammar guru. If you have English classes with me, get ready for attention to detail while getting it right with speaking, reading, and writing.
My lessons are engaging, innovative, and thoughtful - of you! I implement highly effective strategies that engage students and foster their ability to comprehend concepts. I strongly believe in the philosophy of mastery teaching and learning. Simply put, mastery means that I have conveyed the learning target in such a way that the learner is able to replicate my knowledge. Throughout my career, my greatest assets have been my high work ethic, my personality, through which I draw students’ interest, building relationships and rapport with those learners, and dedication to my craft, which has been the prelude to my professional growth.
And, as much as I love teaching, there has to be a time to relax. So, when I am not assisting my students, I enjoy a good Lifetime movie or political video on YouTube.
