Have you conquered present Spanish verbs, but now you are struggling with understanding the difference between preterit and imperfect Spanish verbs? Does conjugating Spanish verbs feel like an impossible task? This class is for you. Let me support you on your Spanish journey. This Spanish Verb Intensive will help students break down past tense Spanish verbs and learn strategies that they can apply to sentence formation in the target language. This class is for students who are currently studying Spanish 1 or 2 and need practice with Spanish verbs. Each class meeting will include the most commonly used Spanish AR, ER and IR verbs. Students will see a demonstration of how to break down verb conjugation and then they will practice conjugation in real time. First Class: -Review of Spanish pronouns and how they interact with Spanish verbs -Conjugation rules -Review of present tense verbs Second Class: Preterit (recent past) -Verb endings -Conjugation practice- AR ER & IR verbs -Sentence formation Third Class: Imperfect (ongoing past) -Verb endings -Conjugation practice- AR ER & IR verbs -Sentence formation Fourth Class: -Practice Preterit vs. Imperfect -Class challenge game
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of how to use Spanish verbs in sentences
Students will review their understanding of using Spanish pronouns and how they interact with Spanish verbs.
Students will practice constructing sentences using appropriate forms of Spanish verbs in the imperfect and preterit tense.

Parental Guidance
I will use Google Docs in screenshare mode to conjugate verbs and read short sentences. I will also use Kahoot to play verb and vocabulary games.
Supply List
Students need a pen and paper to take notes.

I have taught middle and high school Spanish since 2006. I am a certified Spanish and English teacher in the state of Florida through 2024. I have a BA in both Comparative Literature (study of cultural expression through literature) & Spanish Language and Literature from Hamilton College. I lived in Spain with a Spanish family for half my junior year and attended El Instituto Internacional in Madrid. My mother’s side of the family is from Honduras so I was raised in a Spanish speaking household filled with traditional food and culture.
I earned my Master of Science for Teachers in Adolescent Education from Pace University. I am also a Professor of Education at Valencia College. I authored, Get Between Your Teen and the Screen, and co-authored the interactive student guide, Dream, Create, Activate: Create Your Master Plan to Discover and Fulfill Your Dreams. I love teaching Spanish!
