Welcome to Verbs and Conjugations in Spanish! 

Verbs are very important to be able to advance your speaking skills in Spanish. This class has been especially designed to teach you pronouns, verb stems, verb endings, and how to determine which type of words are verbs in Spanish. In addition, you will be learning to use verbs in context. You will learn key vocabulary to use which each type of these verbs. 

This class will focus on the verb to be in the present tense.

The verb "to be" in Spanish has two different forms with different meanings and usage. Therefore, you will see "ser" and "estar" throughout this listing to differentiate the content for that week. In English, the verb to be is an irregular form. It is always called "to be". In Spanish, the verb "to be" has two different forms. 

A weekly video will be posted in the classroom tab where your learner can watch the lesson that teaches the content for the week. Additionally, your learner will receive worksheets to practice the skills taught in the video. Lastly, your learner can post their completed assignments in the classroom. I will provide feedback on their assignments.

How to recognize a verb in Spanish?
Spanish Pronouns

Week 2: 
Verb: To Be (Part 1)
Verbo ser 
What is the meaning of the verb "ser"?
How is it used?
Verb in context: Vocabulary related to professions / occupations, names of countries in Spanish 
Target Question: 
"¿De dónde eres?" / Where are you from?
"¿Cuál es tu profesión?  / What is your profession?

Week 3:
Verb: To Be (Part 1)
Verbo estar
What is the meaning of the verb "estar"?
How is it used?
Verb in context: emotions, weather, and locations
Target Question:
¿Cómo te sientes? / How do you feel?
¿Cómo está el tiempo? / How is the weather?
¿Dónde estás? / Where are you?

Week 4: 
Review the different uses of ser and estar (verb to be in English)
Read texts to complete sentences using different forms of the verb to be
Make new sentences using the verb to be in Spanish

My mission is to enrich your learner's Spanish with classes taught 100% in Spanish that will boost confidence and solidify their Spanish reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Spanish Classes: 

I teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced Spanish. Lessons are thematic. They contain vocabulary, incidental grammar, and a communicative component all throughout the lesson. Beginner learners will learn to form sentences in class.

1-on-1 Tutoring Language Classes:

One-on-one Spanish classes are ideal to work at the student’s pace and build confidence. Lessons are designed to meet the student’s needs and strengths. 

Classes are 30 minutes. 

Education Background:
I have a bachelors degree in Counseling Psychology, a Post-Baccalaureate in Early Childhood Education, followed by a Masters Degree in TESOL from Michigan State University. I have taught students of all ages from toddlers to adults. My classes are characterized by being dynamic with music, reading, and talking. 

ESL - EFL English as a Second Language Classes:

I teach beginner, intermediate, and advanced English classes. Lessons can be about books, specific grammar questions / exercises. I also teach advanced conversation classes. These classes start out with a prompt or theme followed by questions to guide the conversation. Learners are welcome to share their ideas, ask questions, and interact with other learners. 

Classes are 25 minutes. 

I am here to support, encourage, and motivate your learners in their language learning journey!
