Spanish Reading Book Club (Year 2)

In this Spanish book club, students will learn Spanish by reading comprehensible novels. Through reading and class discussion, students will increase their reading and speaking proficiency while gaining confidence in the target language.

Class Experience
I use Google Slides to teach this unit. Students should have some previous knowledge of Spanish to join this class (one year of Spanish is recommended).  I teach with a focus on Comprehensible Input and not grammar since that is not how language is naturally acquired.  Comprehensible input Spanish readers are a game changer in the classroom. This class is taught in Spanish.

I have been a certified Spanish teacher for the past 24 years.  I have a masters in education.  I lived and studied in Spain for several years so I have a true Spanish accent (castellano). I have attended many comprehensible input training and am a certified CI teacher.

2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

The novel for this class can be purchased at fluencymatters.com.  The novel is called Frida Kahlo.
