In this two-part class, students will learn how to pronounce any word in Spanish. We will cover the alphabet, rules of pronunciations, and common letter combinations. The class will switch between reviewing material and practice slides where we decode words containing the sounds we've just reviewed. This class would be beneficial to new learners as well as intermediate novice learners who find pronunciation a bit of a challenge. Students will end the week with printouts they can continue to use as reference in any further Spanish learning. This class is fast-paced, but I provide a summary of the more challenging phonics as a printable handout at the end of the second class for students to use in their future Spanish endeavors!

Hello! My name is Marilena and I live in Washington State, USA. I teach several youth classes- Spanish, as well as elementary English spelling and phonics classes- as well as two middle school vocabulary and spelling classes to improve writing. I have the most amazing kids in each of my classes; the families on this site really are amazing!
Outside of Outschool, I am a special education instructional paraeducator at our local elementary school. I also teach Drama in an after-school program, now via Zoom. Formerly, I taught high school and middle school Spanish. Living in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, I love walking, kayaking, playing outside with my kids, and curling up with a nice book on a rainy day (which is often in these parts!)
I love working with and being around children; I love watching their face light up when they've mastered something. I design my lessons to be engaging, informative, and enjoyable; integrity of instruction is my #1 goal! I strive to make the most of my time with kids in every setting.
