Spanish Language Intro Class: Greetings & Emotions
What's included
1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this class, students will learn how to greet one another in Spanish and identify different emotions. #confidence Class Objectives: I can say hello and introduce myself in Spanish. ~ "Hola, me llamo _______" I can ask the question "How are you?" in Spanish. ~ "¿Cómo estás?" I can describe how I am feelings using different emotions in Spanish. ~ "Estoy....feliz, triste, enojado/a, emocionado/a, cansado/a" Although this class is for beginners with little to no experience with the Spanish language it will be conducted mainly in Spanish. The vocabulary will be learned through exaggerated facial expressions, TPR (total physical response), pictures, and props to help your child make associations between the new words and their meaning. Of course, if your student becomes confused the teacher will clarify in English. By limiting the use of English in the classroom your child will have a more natural understanding of the words and will not need to translate from English to Spanish but instead will have an innate understanding of the vocabulary and phrases. Teachers will speak slowly and clearly and model sentence frames for the students. After modeling the sentence frames they will be practiced in a call and response manner. Our class sizes are small so that every child in attendance has plenty of opportunities to practice the new vocabulary and build their confidence in a small class environment. The class will begin with introductions and a presentation of the target feeling vocabulary and phrases. We will pair each emotion with an action. Pairing movement with new vocabulary will help your child stay engaged and also help them retain the new information better. During class, we will practice simple conversations with the phrases learned and play charades to ensure understanding and proficiency of the new vocabulary. Our teachers are so excited to share their love of the Spanish language with your students through fun and interactive activities!
