Class Experience

Learning about geography not only is interesting and fun but also essential in many ways and it would never be too early to start such an important journey. The study of geography allows us to understand physical phenomena that affect our daily life like hurricanes and climate change and it also gives us the knowledge to function effectively in our increasingly interdependent world by understanding where countries are located and how the physical world affects the cultural aspects of societies.

We start this course by studying the fundamentals of geography and continue with an orderly exploration of continents and countries. We will learn about cities, monuments, flags, rivers, mountains, biomes, endangered species and so much more. Every lesson starts with an introduction to the topic using a colorful and interactive presentation, including lots of pictures and graphs and the involvement of learners all along, followed by more students' centered activities such as short projects and group discussions. We will embark on virtual trips to some iconic monuments and landmarks to have a first perspective. Virtual reality will make this learning experience fun and memorable.

Meet the team

Sara M. Gonzalez
I am the founder and director of WeConnect. I am a native speaker and a certified Spanish teacher with a Ph.D in Spanish Literature. I have been teaching Spanish language, culture and literature for more than 10 years and would not change the joy of helping learners become proficient in the language. It is also very important to me that they enjoy the experience and consequently, much effort is put into making lessons didactic, varied, and memorable.
My pedagogy is based on research and classes are conducted in Spanish 80 to 90 % of the time with a progressive increment. My experience allows my to encourage mistakes as a normal part of the learning process as well as effectively correcting and guiding interactions. In my approach to language learning, I present grammar and vocabulary in integration with real life contexts and the Spanish culture, actively involving the students at every step.
I am also a Biologist (bachelors) and have taught Social Studies in bilingual contexts. I have served as a middle school and high school teacher from multiple capacities and have taught a variety of subjects that go from Science to the full spectrum of Spanish language courses.
More importantly, I grow and become a better teacher from every interaction with my students.
