Class Experience

The cognitive benefits of learning another language are undeniable. Research shows that learning another language can be extremely beneficial for young learners. Children exposed to a second language have improved memory, enhanced concentration, and better listening skills. They are also better equipped to multitask and problem solve. This is one reason I am so passionate about teaching Spanish to young learners.

Spanish Fun- Let's Learn Español! is a weekly ongoing class that includes learning Spanish through an interactive presentation, repetition, visual props, conversation, songs, movement, and games. Each week will have a different theme for the vocabulary to be discussed. Additionally, students will learn how to ask and answer questions regarding the themes using complete sentences. Each class can be a stand alone class, and learners may come and go as their schedule allows. I will provide printables and resources for each class. I love to have a lot of fun in this class because I believe that students learn and retain so much more when they are actively engaged and having fun!

I strive to accommodate all learners through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities as well as adequate repetition. This is a conversational class with an emphasis on student talk time. Students will be encouraged, but not required, to speak about 50% of the time in order to practice pronunciation and promote retention. If your child wishes not to speak in class, please let me know beforehand so that I can make those accommodations. This is a beginner level course for students with little or no experience speaking Spanish, and I aim to facilitate a comfortable learning environment. I gently encourage my students to raise their hand to signal that they have a question or want to share something with me or the class. I ask lots of questions throughout the class so that every student gets a chance to be heard and share their thoughts while still maintaining a structured classroom environment. I prefer to leave students unmuted as long as they are raising their hand and there is no distracting background noise. I look forward to seeing you in the classroom!
