In this 12-week course, students will learn the Spanish vowels, alphabet, colors, numbers, shapes, & feelings, as well as begin to have simple conversation in Spanish & learn about the countries of Spain, Mexico & the Dominican Republic.

In this 12 week class, learners will meet once a week in small groups to focus on the basics of the Spanish language. No prior Spanish exposure is required. Each fifty minute session will include a review of what we have previously studied, introduction to new vocabulary, songs, games, and a conversational prompt, as well as a cultural fact about the Spanish Speaking Countries of Spain, Mexico, or Dominican Republic. Students will learn the Spanish vowels and alphabet. They will learn to say the numbers, colors, shapes, and emotions in Spanish. Students will focus on learning Spanish vocabulary words with all the consonants in the Spanish alphabet. The culture of Spain, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic is the focus of our culture learning block in this module.
My qualifications for teaching Spanish include a Master's Degree in a relevant area (teaching a second language). I have worked in Spanish Immersion classrooms and Bilingual Classrooms, teaching a second language to students in the elementary level. I also have an elementary education degree which helps me teach students in this age group.
Homework Offered
Students will be required to practice learned concepts in the "Risas and Sonrisas" online program independently. Student accounts for this program are included in this Module's price. Students will be expected to have a good grasp of the vocabulary, songs, and concepts learned in previous lessons and be prepared to learn new concepts during each lesson. There will be worksheets made accessible for students to print at home and complete for extra practice.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class

With the purchase of this course, students will be given a one-year access to their personal accounts on the Risas y Sonrisas Spanish Online program. This program will be used for homework and to reinforce learned concepts. The program should be used at home during times where we do not meet. This practice will help students be better prepared for future class sessions. I will be providing the login information to each student by private messaging each student through the Outschool platform. Please make sure that you check for this login information after the first class session. Let me know if you are unable to sign in. This platform is very student friendly with no risk for inappropriate content.
Students will be using a third-party website named "spanishforkids.com" where they will be required to review the content being studied in class in the online program of the Risas y Sonrisas curriculum. Students will be given a username and password to the program. This student account is included in the price of the course.
