Intermediate Level
This is a semester course. It will be taught once per week. This course is a continuation of the course, Spanish for High School Students. This course has 15 meetings. Depending on the topic, students will be taught using power point presentations, the Zoom Whiteboard, writing, reading short sentences and practicing conversations. There will be word repetition to listen to their pronunciation. There will be 13 graded worksheets, that will make 70% of the grade, a mid-term test that will be 10% of the grade and a final exam at the end of the course that will be 20% of the grade. This course has a letter grade if requested. Here is description of each meeting. Meeting 1. Adjectives that describe emotions and conditions. In this meeting there will be a review of the conjugation of the verb 'estar' and we will complement the verb 'estar' with adjectives. This meeting has a worksheet that we will be solved during class, or it can be finished as a homework. 2. Vocabulary of Colors, clothing and shopping. This meeting has a worksheet, and we will practice conversation using the vocabulary on clothing and shopping. 3. Present tense of stem changing verbs. In this meeting we will practice the conjugation of the irregular verbs with stem changing verbs and we will solve a worksheet. 4. Verbs with irregular 'yo' forms. In this meeting students will learn the conjugation of the verbs with irregular 'yo' forms, and the students will solve a worksheet. 5. Weather expressions. In this meeting students will be introduced to weather related vocabulary and how to use the verb 'hacer' with weather expressions. Students will solve a worksheet for this meeting. 6. Ordinal numbers. In this meeting there will be a review of the seasons and months of the year and practice using the vocabulary of ordinal numbers with the vocabulary of seasons and months of the year. Students will talk about the weather where they live and will solve a worksheet. 7. Review and Mid-term test. In this meeting there will be a brief review of the topics that we have covered until this point. Then there will be a Mid-term test. 8. Preterite tense of regular 'ar' verbs. In this meeting we will practice the conjugation of the preterite tense of regular 'ar' verbs and students will solve a worksheet. 9. The preterite tense of regular 'er' and 'ir' verbs. In this meeting students will learn the conjugation of the preterite tense of regular 'er' and 'ir' verbs and students will solve a worksheet. 10. Indirect object pronouns. In this meeting students will learn what is an indirect object pronoun and how to use it. Then they will solve a worksheet. 11. Indefinite and negative words. In this meeting students will practice sentences using indefinite and negative words and then will solve a worksheet. 12. Preterite of 'ser and 'ir.' In this meeting students will learn how to express using the conjugation of the preterite of 'ser' and 'ir' and then they will solve a worksheet. 13. 'Gustar' and verbs like 'gustar.' In this meeting students will learn how to express using the verb 'gustar' and other verbs like 'aburrir', 'encantar', 'faltar', 'fascinar', 'importar', 'interesar', 'molestar' and 'quedar' and then they will solve a worksheet. 14. Reflexive verbs. In this meeting students will learn when to use reflexive verbs and how to use them and then they will solve a worksheet. 15. Review and final test. In this meeting there will be a review of all the verbs on the preterite tense and then there will be a test on that.

This class is a continuation of Spanish for High School Students. Anyone taking this class must have the knowledge of the prior class.
