My Conejito and I are excited to help your little ones love starting to learn Spanish! This immersion Spanish class is for total beginners -- if you're not sure if it will be a good fit, check out the list of topics below. Through games, songs, movement, and drawing, we'll have fun learning and practicing new words. Each week, we'll have a different theme, so students will have plenty of opportunities to practice proper pronunciation and retain the new words and usage. We'll have a set of vocabulary words and a grammar / usage idea that we'll focus on -- these will be provided in advance for the families that would like to practice before and after class. I encourage families to use the words and phrases as much as possible at home to encourage the little ones to apply what they know! Some of our weekly themes are: I am __ years old. (numbers 1-10) It is a __, they are __. (pets) I want to eat... (food) I want to drink... (drinks) My __ hurts! (body parts) I want to be a... (professions) I like to... (hobbies) I see... (traveling to Chile) There are... (traveling to Peru) I eat... (traveling to Costa Rica) My goal is for the learners to be able to use the words and phrases to participate in games and other activities, but I know how nerve-wracking it can be to learn a new language, so I don't want to "call on" learners or force anyone to speak. I believe that when kids are having fun, they forget their nervousness, and they will naturally participate when they feel confident. I also have a special little friend, my cottontail bunny, who really helps children feel comfortable in class! (I also now have a kitten that likes to visit and nap through class sometimes.) Our class will be interactive, energetic, playful, and low-pressure. I'd love for students to have their microphone so that they can participate at any time, but they're welcome to mute as needed, especially to avoid background noise. Materials: You can have some paper, a notebook, a whiteboard, pencils, markers, or whatever you feel comfortable drawing and writing with handy so that we can draw a little together. If your child isn't writing yet, no worries. The students can write as much or as little as they are able to. June 20: instruments June 27: my home July 4: big, small, medium July 11: cat and mouse July 18: riding my bike July 25: flavors August 1: no class August 8: shapes August 15: more opposites August 22: greetings August 29: how old are you? September 5: let's... (verb extravaganza!) September 12: carnivores and herbivores September 19: a pet, some pets
