In this 4-day class, taught completely in Spanish, students will watch, discuss and analyze popular animated films as they converse about character descriptions, themes, plot twists and more!
Class experience
Using animated short films without dialogue, the learners will have an opportunity to connect to each film by relating the themes to their own personal lives, speaking exclusively in Spanish. For each film, we will read and discuss a short synopsis, new vocabulary pertaining to the film will be introduced, students will be asked to take notes during each video based on certain scenes and events. This class is taught in Spanish.
Students will be able to participate in discussions about short films, in Spanish, with the aid of pre-determined questions and new vocabulary practice activities. In these discussions, they will be able to discuss character traits, film message and theme(s), as they improve their analytical thinking skills.
I am a native speaker of Spanish and I have taught all levels of Spanish from beginner to advanced placement. In my years growing up in a Spanish-speaking household, studying in Spain and teaching both kids and adults, I have learned strategies to engage the students and make learning a new language fun and exciting. Films are great conversations starters and a terrific context to discuss topics of interest to teenagers. I believe this class will help the learners improve their listening and speaking skills as they analyze and personalize the themes of each film.
4 files available upon enrollmentI will supply the vocabulary activities for each film. It is suggested that each learner print the vocabulary activity for each day of the class. Day 1: Snack Attack Day 2: Jinxy Jones and Lucky Lou Day 3: Runaway Day 4: Alike
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
In addition to the Outschool Zoom classroom, this class uses Youtube.
