Class Experience

Students will learn and have daily practice with the following information and concepts in both Spanish and English: days of the week, months of the year, how to read and write the date, numbers, colors, shapes, counting, number order, letter names and sounds and rhyming. I will teach from slides to ensure that students can clearly see the information. I will use my hands, facial expressions, voice intonation as well as body movements to both engage and help students to learn and understand what is being taught. I will use chanting, rhyming, singing and a lot of call and response as I teach. Students will constantly interact with myself and their classmates throughout the lesson. This class does not require any prior experience or knowledge from the learners.

*This class is designed and most appropriate for NON-NATIVE speakers of Spanish but all students are welcome to join.

*Students should have some familiarity with the letters of the Spanish alphabet.

During these 8 weeks, the literacy focus will be on vowels and the first 3 of 12 syllable patterns.
