Dr. Vania Scarborough: Dr. Vania is an experienced, bilingual, compassionate, and creative Spanish teacher with over one decade of teaching experience including higher education instruction, tutoring in Spanish, and virtual language instruction. Dr. Scarborough is a native Spanish speaker with a Postgraduate Degree from the International University of Catalunya in Barcelona, Spain, and a DDS from a prestigious university in South America. This, coupled to her ample linguistic experience as a professional Spanish translator, interpreter, and proofreader are the reasons behind Dr. Scarborough’s superb reading, writing and linguistic skills in Spanish. In fact, it is her deep love and knowledge of Spanish grammar, and a genuine vocation of service, which thoroughly inform all her teaching and allow her to provide all her Spanish students with a highly professional and effective Spanish language immersion learning experience. Adriana Terrones: Hello, my name is Adriana and I'm originally from Chicago, currently living in Puerto Rico. I teach ESL, Spanish and Portuguese. I have about 10 years of teaching experience. I have taught different subjects, in various types of school settings, with ages ranging from 2 years old to 22 years old. It is my goal to make learning fun, engaging, and interactive. My hobbies include art, skateboarding, snorkeling, yoga, and reading. I love to travel, hike, and dance too! Hemmilly De Paula: My name is Hemmilly and I teach Portuguese, Spanish and French. I love to introduce kids to a new language and see their excitement as they learn to express themselves in a new way. Learning a new language is fun!
No homework will be assigned for this class. I only encourage students and families to welcome and include the Spanish language by making connections in their daily lives as often as possible while watching, listening to and participating in the world around them.
Learner progress will be assessed daily during each lesson as the teacher sees and hears that the student has become independent in reciting the information learned during the calendar routine. Students will be able to ask and answer questions in both languages. Students will have individual turns to demonstrate progress and understanding. Parents can also assess their own child's progress as they become more independent during their participation in class as well as how they are using learned information outside of class.
2 hours 5 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
