Class Experience

During this 3 week class, students will be reading beforehand and discussing among each other the book "La Habitación de los Reptiles". The goal for this class is for students to develop reading comprehension and conversational skills in Spanish; sometimes, they will also be doing writing exercises based on a specific situation in the book. This is a small class therefore, students will be actively participating during each session.
I have listed on the sources section, the sites where the book can be purchased. I recommend buying the e-book version, in case it takes some time to get the printed version delivered.
Schedule:
Week 1: Read the first 3 chapters before the book club is scheduled to start. We will review vocabulary (I will send a guide with the words before each session), discuss the chapters and learn more about the characters and how they have changed since the book 1 ended. It is not necessary to have read before the first book. In the beginning of the class, I will introduce the characters and their circumstances prior to the second book.
Week 2: Read beforehand chapters 4 - 8. Once we meet, we will discuss vocabulary and each chapter, followed by a short writing activity describing a specific situation and our thoughts about it. During the last 15 minutes, the students will play a reading comprehension game on nearpod.com
Week 3: Before our last session, the students should have finished the book. We will go over questions and discuss the remaining chapters. We will also talk about the book overall, by focusing on its themes, character development and the chapters and parts that were the most important for each reader. We will finish the class by participating in a fun activity on the website nearpod.com, where students will be doing a fill in the blanks exercise and answer a multiple choice questionary, while doing a climbing race.

Students are welcome to post any questions they might have on the classroom board between sessions.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of the Spanish language, by reading several chapters each week, learning vocabulary and developing grammar skills through writing activities and reading comprehension games. They will also be practicing conversation and developing critical thinking by discussing the book and giving their own opinions about it.
