During this book club, the students will read over a 3-week period "La Habitación de los Reptiles'. It is the Spanish version for "The Reptile Room", book 2 of A Series of Unfortunate events by Lemony Snicket.
Class experience
During this 3 week class, students will be reading beforehand and discussing among each other the book "La Habitación de los Reptiles". The goal for this class is for students to develop reading comprehension and conversational skills in Spanish; sometimes, they will also be doing writing exercises based on a specific situation in the book. This class is taught in Spanish.
Students will improve their understanding of the Spanish language, by reading several chapters each week, learning vocabulary and developing grammar skills through writing activities and reading comprehension games. They will also be practicing conversation and developing critical thinking by discussing the book and giving their own opinions about it.
Homework Offered
The learners will be asked asked to read the chapters assigned before meeting each session. If they can't finish the required reading, they are still more than welcome to attend the class.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
