Intermediate Level
😎 What makes this course special? Students read comprehensible short novels that peak their interest, grow their vocabulary, and propel them to the next level in their Spanish development. Students will be able to understand and enjoy what they are reading. NOTE: This course is conducted mostly in comprehensible Spanish. English is used to support student learning and verify understanding. Students are encouraged to speak in Spanish but not mandated as this is a safe environment to grow Spanish skills. THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED TO: 🙌 Equip learners with the skills to speak Spanish with confidence 🔥 Ignite student curiosity and desire to learn more about the Spanish language 💪 Inspire students to be fearless in tackling a new language 🧑🏫 Connect with teacher and peers while having fun learning Spanish Course Description/Experience: The class will choose a Spanish novel that we will read together during class for 4 weeks. We will use a variety of methods to read the book so it is always engaging, fun, and stress free. The teacher will lead students in games and communicative activities that spur class interest, engagement, and Spanish growth. In my 25 + years of teaching High School Spanish from level 1 through Heritage Speaker, comprehensible reading has the biggest impact on student proficiency gains and confidence. If your student struggles with speaking then this class is perfect. The reading and activities we do support student output. Though this club is conducted predominantly in Spanish, the teacher will support student learning and will use English when needed.
