Class Experience

This class is designed for students who want to review basic Spanish 3 concepts. Whether your child struggled with the virtual school year, struggles with language acquisition and understanding or loves Spanish and just wants extra practice before Spanish 4, this is the right class for you! If your child took Spanish in middle school and is entering Spanish 4 in high school, this review is a perfect way to build confidence and prepare!

Each class will consist of a targeted lesson (to include: nouns/adjectives/verbs and major level 3 vocabulary units) for the first 30 minutes. Students will have 15 minutes to practice, speak, read, play a game, etc. to practice the concept! Vocabulary words will be provided for practice between classes each week. My focus during lessons will be on grammar concepts! Memorizing words and vocabulary can be practiced individually but understanding article-noun-adjective agreement or verb conjugation requires more direct-instruction.

My goal is to build confidence so your student is ready to excel in Spanish 4!

Week 1: Present tense - regular and irregular verbs
Week 2: Preterite tense/Imperfect tense
Week 3: Preterite vs. imperfect tense
Week 4: Progressive and Perfect tenses
Week 5: Direct Objects/Commands
Week 6: Subjunctive

I will speak in Spanish but will explain concepts in English (this is NOT an immersion setting, though I do teach immersion classes so please check my profile for other course offerings!)

I’m Nicole and I taught in the local public school system for several years! I was certified to teach Spanish, English, and Special Education K-12 and taught Spanish levels 1 through AP and English classes in general and self-contained classrooms. I left the public school system to homeschool my three children - ages 7, 10 and 12 - and together we learn and explore! I've traveled to Honduras and to Spain and I love teaching Spanish, language/grammar and culture! I also have extensive experience with special needs and work part time as a family consultant to families with children with Autism in Maryland.

I believe that understanding the mechanics of language is absolutely essential in good writing and in second-language acquisition. I especially enjoy teaching early reading/phonics/phonemic awareness, English grammar and Spanish grammar! I teach Spanish immersion classes where we are constantly laughing and learning and social skills groups where students develop relationships with peers around the world!

I'm happy to schedule one:one classes/tutoring by request. Please message me with questions!
