Class experience

US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner Level
This class is taught in Spanish.
Students will receive small group instruction, reviewing Spanish 1 curriculum. This class is designed for students who have already taken at least 1 semester of Spanish 1, and need a refresher before taking Spanish 2. Students will continue to grow in all 4 areas of communication, Reading and Listening (Interpretive) and Speaking and Writing (Interpersonal).
I have taught beginning through advanced level Spanish since 2016. I have taught Spanish to 2nd graders, and 6th-12th graders. I have taught in-person classes for the majority of my career, and average about 25 hours/week teaching online Spanish since January 2023.
Homework Offered
There will be very minimal homework assigned each class, depending on how far we get through the planned content. The homework may consist of "write about 2 things you like to do, and 2 things you don't like to do, in Spanish".
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessments will be offered every 2-4 lessons, depending on how fast we go through the content. They will be short mutiple choice/short answer type questions that will be answered in the chat feature on Zoom (sent only to me, not other classmates).
Grades Offered
Student should be currently enrolled in a Spanish 1 course, or have taken a Spanish 1 course in the past year. This class will move at an accelerated pace with the expectation that we are reviewing content, not learning for the first time.
Paper/notebook, a pencil, and an eraser, laptop or computer preferred over an ipad.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will be using Youtube via screen-share for supplemental videos that may help with Listening comprehension.
I may also use Quizlet in screen-share mode to teach students how to navigate all of the vocab review options the site has to offer.
I will use Google Slides in screen-share mode for me to present content.
I may use Google Docs to have students access digital notes (that could be printed if they choose to)
I may use Kahoot, Gimkit, or Quizlet Live to play vocab-based games.
