Check the "Teacher Expertise" section to learn about each of our teachers.

Our classes generally start from the beginning on a quarterly basis. However, if a class has 0 learners it will be starting from the beginning. Please message us if you are joining mid-semester and looking for a class starting from lesson 1.

Fall Semester - August 24th-December 20th
Winter/Spring Semester - January 4th-May 31st

SPANISH IMMERSION CLASS

How does this work?
The target language, in this case, Spanish, is used in a way that gradually immerses students through stories, songs, videos and interactive activities.

Each unit incorporates the following:
- Vocabulary presentation with 3-7 key words in each unit
- Student dictionary to keep a log of the vocabulary
- Short stories
- Video and/or audio that incorporates the unit vocabulary
- Songs
- Cultural lessons about the various Spanish-speaking countries

Students will learn small language chunks while simultaneously grasping how to utilize linguistic structures in relevant cultural contexts.

Our curriculum is tailored to lead students toward Spanish proficiency. Each unit integrates language and culture, accelerating language acquisition beyond the pace of traditional beginner courses.

The curriculum uses authentic resources to develop proficiency, which motivates learners.

GRAMMAR
In this course, grammar is learned intrinsically through context, but each unit also incorporates 1 or 2 grammar lessons. Level 1 focuses on linguistic structures in the present tense and some use of past tense sprinkled in.

SPEAKING & WRITING
Each unit encourages students to speak and write in a low-risk, low-stakes environment, building confidence as they progress. Students will practice speaking through:

- Reading Text Aloud
- Comprehension questions after short stories
- Interactive speaking activities
- Translating small paragraphs from Spanish to English and English to Spanish
- Writing short paragraphs in Spanish

If you've taken Spanish I for Middle School, we encourage you to sign up for Spanish 1 Immersion to continue advancing your Spanish. Even if you know some grammar and vocabulary, you will now start speaking Spanish!
