Beginner Level
This is a level one Spanish class for absolute beginners. This is an ongoing subscription for students to learn the basics with vocabulary and grammar in Spanish. Some of the topics will include school, telling time, adjectives, activities, food, etc. FALL SEMESTER Our fall semester starts the week of August 25th and runs through December 21st. You can join anytime. If a class has 0 students it will start from day 1. Message us if you want to find out what day/time a specific class is on. This class builds on the material, but you're welcome to join up through unit 1.2 because it is still easy enough to catch on. We also have a pre-recorded class of the Preliminary Unit and Unit 1.1 available if you're joining later in the year with a group that already started. CLASS STRUCTURE - introduce new vocabulary or grammar with notes (We make sure to engage students while note-taking by adding group practice and activities in between slides) - practice pronunciation of new vocabulary/grammar in between note-taking - group practice (can include speaking, games, matching activities, etc.) - individual practice (usually writing/answering questions or using the chat box on zoom to answer a question) CLASS RESOURCES We use Google Slides and the Zoom whiteboard to teach. We sometimes use nearpod.com for interactive slides (see more in Parental Guidance). Students receive a PDF of the materials we use and a class recording is automatically posted within 24 hours of the lesson so they can watch the lesson again. Re-watching the lesson typically helps with pronunciation and vocabulary or grammar practice. We have an engaging teaching style where we incorporate games and discussion with the students. In that sense, we interact often throughout the lesson. 🔴 ➡️ NEW CLASSES STARTING NOW❗️ Any of the sections you see listed right now are starting from the Preliminary Unit, which includes the alphabet, Spanish greetings, and weather. Message us with any questions. If your student has taken Spanish before, send US a message and we can find a section that might be a better fit. We still have sessions in progress all the time, but classes that are past the Preliminary Unit are set to private, so you have to message us if you want to enroll in a class that is further along in the semester. ***Please note, I do have a flex class available for the Preliminary Unit if you'd like to join a class that's on Unit 1.1 or in the middle of the Preliminary Unit*** Week 1 - Preliminary Lesson - Alphabet Week 2 - Preliminary Lesson - Review the Alphabet, learn numbers 1-10 and days of the week Week 3 - Preliminary Lesson - Greetings and Introductions Week 4 - Preliminary Lesson - Greetings and Introductions Part 2 Week 5 - Preliminary Lesson - Weather Week 6 - Unit 1.1 - Day 1 - Activities vocabulary, Day 2 - Snacks, beverages and additional vocabulary Week 7 - Unit 1.1 - Day 3 - Grammar: Pronouns, ser and gustar Week 8 - Unit 1.2 Day 1 Adjectives to describe people with the verb ser (to be) Week 8 Unit 1.2 Day 2 Adjectives with the verb gustar (to like) - Practice answering questions Week 9 - Unit 1.2 Day 1 Review of Adjectives - Describe a famous person or historical figure (guessing game) Week 9 - Unit 1.2 Day 2 Definite and Indefinite Articles (the, a, an, some) + feminine, masculine and singular/plural agreement Week 10 - Unit 2.1 Day 1 Let's go to school vocabulary (What time is it? - Schedule - School Subjects) Week 10 - Unit 2.1 Day 2 School Vocabulary Part II + numbers Week 11 - Unit 2.1 Day 1 Numbers + Telling Time Week 11 - Unit 2.1 Day 2 AR Verbs Week 12 - Unit 2.1 Day 1 AR Verbs Week 12 - Unit 2.1 Day 2 AR Verbs review Week 13- Unit 2.2 Day 1 School Supplies Vocabulary Week 13 - Unit 2.2 Day 2 Feelings (excited, nervous, bored, interesting etc.) Vocabulary + Estar (to be) Week 14 - Unit 2.2 Day 1 Grammar - Prepositions and Estar Week 14 - Unit 2.2 Day 2 Grammar Review Estar + Feelings + Prepositions Week 15 - Unit 3.1 Day 1 Food Vocabulary Day 1 Week 15 - Unit 3.1 Day 2 Food Vocabulary Day 2 (adjectives + food verbs + interrogatives) Week 16 - Unit 3.1 Day 1 Grammar - AR Verbs Review, Intro to ER and IR Verbs Week 16 - Unit 3.1 Day 2 Grammar - AR, ER & IR Verbs Practice This class is a subscription so you can cancel at any time. If your student has had some exposure to Spanish vocabulary and grammar, and you think your learner would be able to start mid-semester, message me. I have many sessions listed privately that won't show up on the calendar. REFUNDS No refunds for group classes because we provide class recordings. Please ensure your learner is verified by Outschool in order to get access to class recordings. Learn more about this here: https://support.outschool.com/en/articles/4063624-learner-verification If your learner is the only student enrolled in class, kindly let us know 24 hours in advance if you need to cancel the class and we'll provide a refund since there won't be a class recording. For cancellations that are less than 24 hours in advance, we cannot provide a refund. If there is a group class and no students shows up, there will not be a refund because our teachers are still showing up to teach. We do not offer make-up classes for group classes.
