This class is designed to teach Spanish while dancing to clean, children-friendly music. Instructions will be given mostly in Spanish to allow students better understand new vocabulary words through movements. This is such a fun class to teach, and kids love learning while having fun. This class will be an intro to a series of classes that will come, which will introduce children to a large collection of vocab words, including verbs they will be acting out as they are dancing. So so FuN!
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their understanding of Spanish, by listening to my commands as they are dancing to the beat of the music. Not only will they be actively moving, they will be learning a new language as well as tuning their ears to it. The new vocab words will be given to them at the beginning of class and we will drill them for a few minutes prior to starting the dance party. Once party starts I will call out a word, for example, "salta" (jump), and they will have to do as commanded. The sky is the limit as to how many words I will call out and have them act out while dancing. They will have so much fun, and learn without them even knowing it.
No homework needed, but practice is recommended to aid with new grammar retention.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents please be advised of potential hazards that may occur while dancing (including, but not limited to accidental tripping, slipping, or falling) Please make sure students are wearing comfortable shoes and clothing and that they have a bottle of water handy to stay hydrated. Student will also be needing an open workout space, and adequate stretching beforehand (although we will be stretching as a class as well). It is advised that parents stay by their child and clear the area well to avoid and help prevent any injuries that may occur if not properly supervised while dancing.
