Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
In this one-time class, Astronaut Trainees will learn all about astronauts. What is special about spacesuits? We will have fun simulating a "flying" experience in a jet to prepare for our space expedition and practice "weightlessness," too! Blast Off! You're a real life astronaut! Where do you sleep? Where do you potty? Graduate trainees will earn their very own astronaut graduate badge, spaceship, planets, & more to color and make a picturescape after class for extension. These custom color sheets will be sent before class (for those who sign up 24 hours before class begins) or right after class is over.

I use colorful slides, a combination of lecture and interactive teaching, movement, and 1:30-2:00 minute video clips. Trainees will have an opportunity to tell what they know or see at the beginning of class and many opportunities to interact all throughout class. Come dressed in your spacesuit if you have one! See you soon, Trainees!

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We will watch a short 2-minute simulated flying video to prepare for our jet aircraft "training." It is not overly intense but those with severe car sickness or motion sickness can look away while the video is playing. Feel free to color during this time if you don't want to "fly" with us.
Supply List
**Please note: the custom color sheets are sent before class (if you enrolled 24 hours ahead) or after class, depending on when you sign up. These are to use __after__ class for extension. So no big deal if you can't print before class. Your learner will not miss out.

Something to hold (when we "fly" in the jet). An empty paper towel roll will even work. I use my handheld microphone! ☺

To create a space experience picture using the color sheets, you may need:
Dark piece of construction paper (blue or black )
Markers and /or crayons
Child friendly scissors
Glue stick
**Color, cut, and glue the space items onto the construction paper to remember your full space experience. Awesome job, Astronaut Graduates!

Fun, positive, and encouraging! That’s what I hear from parents and students alike that take classes with me. I have an extensive background in musical theatre and acting so it’s only natural to bring that side of my personality to teaching. Learning should be exciting and fun. My classroom is colorful, engaging, and we will have so much fun together! My motto is: If I love teaching, my students love learning!

I love singing, acting, science, animals, volunteering in my community, crafting classroom props and creating up-cycled crafts. Just to name a few! I have been
married 25 years and we have 2 teen children and 3 dogs.

Education background:
I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education. I focused on Reading Education and Learning Disabilities in graduate school at UGA. I also have a 120 hour TESOL certificate for teaching ESL classes.

I currently teach phonics, beginning reading and comprehension, Play-Doh science classes, ESL, and several socialization and fun classes to students around the world. So many parents have told me their student works even harder practicing reading, phonics and speaking English in my ESL classes because of my motivation. Positive teaching methods that incorporate applicable skills propel my students to find their own inward motivation and exhibit great success. There’s no higher compliment for a teacher than knowing your student works to improve themselves because they love you and your class. Hard work, kindness, genuine love & a passion for teaching each student is the key to making a lasting impression on learners.

Now let’s get started! Engaging and exciting classes await your learner. See you in the classroom!
