Beginner Level
Each week, we will learn about a different planet in our solar system according to the schedule below. We will learn interesting facts about each planet in a fun and engaging way. Our class will start with student introductions and an informal Q&A about the planet we are studying that day. I will then introduce facts about the planet, including # of moons, distance from sun, what type of planet it is, space missions that have gone there, etc. Learners will have the opportunity to ask questions and make comments throughout each class to ensure they are getting the most out of their experience. No prior knowledge of space or the planets is required in order to participate in this ongoing class. Thursday Class Schedule: Dec 16: Planet Mercury Dec 23: Planet Venus Dec 30: Planet Earth Jan 6: Astronaut Life Jan 13: Planet Mars Jan 20: NO CLASS (you will not be charged) Jan 27: Planet Saturn Feb 3: Planet Uranus Feb 10: Planet Neptune Feb 17: Dwarf Planet Pluto Feb 24: Moons ***this cycle will then start again with Planet Mercury*** Each week, I will send learners a printable worksheet and a personalized coloring sheet in the classroom (neither are required to be brought to class, but are instead for kinesthetic learners who benefit from coloring while learning!)

Virginia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi! My name is Danielle Bozung and I've been an elementary teacher for the past 16 years in Virginia. I have taught 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade. My Outschool classes center around math, reading, animals, science, and planets. I have a Bachelors Degree from James Madison University and a Masters Degree in Teaching from Christopher Newport University. I am currently pursuing my Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S.) in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Virginia.
I love spending time with my family. I have three children: a son and two daughters. In my free time, I love reading, finding new local coffee shops around Virginia, and hiking our beautiful mountains!
My teaching philosophy is that children learn best when they are engaged and having fun!
