Moons of Jupiter
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introducing the Moons of Jupiter
Our class blasts off to space with an introduction to the Moons of Jupiter and the different "families" of moons. We will become familiar with these families as we discuss some of the more well-known moons. Focus will be on naming the moons and getting familiar with them. We will zoom around the planet to learn about some smaller moons around Jupiter and get a feel for how this “mini-planetary system” works.
 Week 2
Lesson 2
The Galilean Satellites
Today's lesson focuses on the Galilean Satellites, the four largest Moons of Jupiter. We will learn how each of these moons is unique, along with a variety of interesting facts about each moon.
 Week 3
Lesson 3
Human Exploration to the Moons of Jupiter
This lesson focuses on the various unmanned missions humans have sent to explore the moons of Jupiter, and we will discuss what we have discovered through these missions. We will focus on learning the names of the unmanned spacecraft which have provided us with the wealth of knowledge and understanding we have about the numerous moons orbiting this planet.
 Week 4
Lesson 4
Reviewing the Moons of Jupiter
Today's lesson is a discussion about the most popular moons of Jupiter, along with a fun, interactive review game where students can show off all their new knowledge about these amazing natural satellites!

Moons of Saturn
 Week 5
Lesson 5
Introducing the Moons of Saturn
During this lesson, students learn all about the number of moons surrounding Saturn. Focus will be on naming the moons and getting familiar with them and their orbits. We will zoom around the planet to learn about some smaller moons around Saturn and get a feel for how this interesting “mini-planetary system” works.
 Week 6
Lesson 6
The Largest Moons of Saturn
Today's lesson focuses on the largest moons orbiting Saturn. We will explore these celestial bodies, learning their names, topography, and some interesting & unique facts about them.
 Week 7
Lesson 7
The Smallest Moons of Saturn & Human Exploration of the Moons of Saturn
This lesson will be full of excitement & wonderment as we spin around the rings of Saturn to learn about its smallest moons, and how we believe they work together to help sustain the magnificent ring system. Afterwards, we will embark on a journey to find all the human missions sent to Saturn & discuss what they discovered about the Moons of Saturn.
 Week 8
Lesson 8
Reviewing the Moons of Saturn
For our last lesson in Space Mission 4, we will discuss why it is important to learn and study the moons in our Solar System, and how further research and discovery might be helpful to humankind. We will also discuss whether these natural satellites could be habitable. Then, we will play a fun, interactive review game all about the Moons of Saturn!
Students will be able to name several of the moons around Jupiter & Saturn, identify which ones are thought to have water, and therefore present an opportunity for life to exist. Learners will be able to describe the largest moons around both planets, and tell how each is unique from the other moons, including their features such as structure, surface, atmosphere, temperatures, and more.
I have always had a love of space, from the moment my grandpa, an amateur astronomer, let me look through the 10-foot telescope he built all by himself, to watching shuttles & satellites lift into the sky, and watching some fall back to the earth. I have spotted some of the largest dust storms to hit Mars, and have enjoyed looking at the various craters on our Moon and seeing the rings around Saturn, all from my own backyard in Missouri & while using other telescopes my grandpa and I built together! I have never ceased my exploration and search, looking to the skies to watch for eclipses, comets, and so much more! My love of all things Space has only increased with time, and I feel it is the next great wave of the future! As a teacher with a Master’s Degree in Teaching & over 30 years of experience working with children of various ages, and more than 5 years teaching students about Space, as well as other Science-related subject-matter, I love sharing my knowledge with the next generation. My hope is to instill the awe-inspiring beauty the Unknown Universe holds, as well as encourage students to dream and believe! I hope to see you in class as we take to the Cosmos during this Amazing Space Mission!
