In this one time class, we will see images of the Milky Way, discuss where we live within it and other interesting facts about our amazing galaxy. We will briefly hear a few different myths about it's creation: The African Bushmen and the campfire, the Armenian straw thief, the Navajo bag of stars, and finally we will read the Cherokee myth about the Spirit Dog. After that students will create their own myth about the Milky Way and draw pictures to show their story. Lastly, they will share...
Students will have a basic understanding of the Milky Way and where we live within it. They will also learn about the various myths about it's creation and learn to create their own.
I've been teaching this class, Space Exploration, at my homeschool co-op this year and have recently moved my classes virtual due to the coronavirus. My family loves space, and, if you're like us and want to learn more, I'd love to have you join my class!
