Camp starts with brief introductions while we wait for everyone to join. These intros are longer are the first day of camp. Subsequent days begin with a small ice breaker. Camp is based around a slide presentation using visuals everyone can see. During camp we imagine we are going to space to explore. Suspend reality! This class is meant to be fun with lots of pretending! Discussion is encouraged and appreciated. Day 1: Students get ready to go to space. What do we need to bring with us? Campers learn all about things needed in space including food, water, clothing, a spacesuit, spaceship and exercise equipment. Be prepared to draw a picture of YOUR spacesuit and spaceship AFTER class! I post drawings during the camp week for everyone to see. Day 2: Lift off! Our journey begins. Today we pretend we are going into space. We will visit and learn about Venus, Mercury and the Sun. Today I challenge my friends to draw a Venus Airship. Day 3: We continue our stellar journey by visiting Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. Today I ask my friends to design/create their own planet. Day 4: We go to Uranus, Neptune, Pluto (and other dwarf planets), and learn how the spaceships land back on Earth! Day 5: Today we devote to drawing or painting our own solar system. We do this in a step by step fashion so all learners can keep up and create together. This is a really fun way to end the camp week. **PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP FOR THIS CLASS** 1. Thank you for considering this class for your learner. Please know that I have a limited refund policy. You can cancel and receive a full refund within 24 hours of purchase, until the class begins. If you miss a class, you are not entitled to a refund. You are encouraged to watch the recorded version of the class that is posted by Outschool shortly after class ends. The reason that I can not give refunds for missed classes is because when you sign up, you sign up for the seat. As seats in each class are limited, it is a spot that I could not fill with another student. Thank you for understanding this prior to signing up! 2. If you are late to class, even just a few minutes I am not responsible for a delay in letting you in the class. All students are sent to a waiting room prior to class beginning. As students arrive, I let them in one by one. Once class begins, it is harder for me to pay attention to the waiting room. 3. I am pretty good about answering emails during the day. There are days when I teach classes back to back and can't answer emails as timely. Please be patient and know that I will answer as soon as I can. Standard class expectations: -Please keep your microphone muted when not engaging in class. This helps minimize background noise for all learners. I ask a lot of questions and encourage discussion. I will mute individual learners if they don't mute themselves and they have excessive background noise (dogs barking, music playing, adults on the phone etc). -Please keep video on so I can see your learners face. It really helps me gauge the effectiveness of my teaching. -Any children who have not signed up for the class should not be on screen. This is Outschool's policy. -Please be polite and kind to all learners. Negativity, arguing, name calling or bullying will not be tolerated and students will be removed. Let's keep our classroom a positive place! -Take risks, make mistakes. -Be open to new ideas. -Listen when others talk. -Have fun!
Learning Goals
