Space Camp - All Things Space With Fun, Crafts and Science Experiments, Oh My!

In this multi-day class, students will feel immersed (I use green screen technology) as we blast off into space. Over the course of 4 days we will talk about the planets, stars, moons, comets and so much more through experiments and crafts.

Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
In this camp style class, we will meet 3 times in one week to talk about space. I will be using a green screen so students will feel immersed in space. We will explore actual photos of space and do crafts and experiments that might even be edible. Each day will be filled with fun and learning.

Please note: some experiments may require parental guidance.

Along with Science knowledge, learners will practice social and core skills such as counting, language, reading and communication.

Supplies for each day are listed in the materials section below.

This is a multi day class meaning we will meet 3 days in a row for 1 week.

Topics will include Plants, the Moon, Sun, Asteroids, Comets, Stars and so much more.

Day 1: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Moon
Day 2: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto (dwarf planet)
Day 3: Stars, Sun, Asteroids, Meteors, Comets, Black Holes
Learning Goals
Language Arts skills such as reading, writing, communication, writing, and phonics
Math and counting skills
Science knowledge about space

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Some experiments and activities may require parental guidance such as using scissors or lighting a match.
Supply List
Every day students will need paper and something to color with - markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc...

Day 1 Experiment :
4-5 tbsp baking soda
1 tsp dish soap
5-6 drops of any color food coloring
1 cup vinegar
Cup or bottle
Plate or tray to go underneath for easy clean up

Day 1 Activity :
-Favorite snacks such as crackers, tortilla chips, cookies, etc..

Day 2 Experiment 1:
-bowl
-milk
-dish soap
-food coloring (need 2 colors)

Day 2 Experiment 2:
Parents will need to be around for the second experiment
-Jar filled half way with warm water (like a mason jar)
-Bag of ice
-match

Day 3 Experiment 1:
-empty bottle
-oil of some kind
-food coloring (red and yellow like sun but any colors are fine)
-a funnel (optional for pouring in bottle)
-water 

Day 3 Activity:
-2 pieces of foil (one will be balled up)
-Ribbon

Activity 1:
-Paper
-Tape
-Scissors
-Small ball
-Cup

Activity 2:
-plate or tray
-5 toothpicks bent in half but not completely broken (we will use them to make a star)
-dropper (can use a spoon or something else to put a little water in the middle of the star)
-water

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
