IMPORTANT PREREQUISITE: This is the second course in the Self-Paced Creative Photo Intensive Series. Students should complete Level 1 before enrolling in this class to make sure they’re ready for the next steps. In Level 2, learners will build on the skills they developed in Level 1 and start digging deeper into the art and science of photography. This 6-week self-paced course helps students strengthen their creative eye, explore new techniques, and build confidence in sharing and discussing their work. Throughout this course, students will: Discuss and Analyze Photography: Students will practice talking about their own work and giving supportive feedback to others, focusing on subject, lighting, and composition choices. Explore Photography’s History: We'll look at how photography has changed over time, from film to digital. Students are encouraged to experiment with different cameras like Instax, disposables, or any fun film option they have access to. Create Visual Variety: Learners will plan and photograph a series of images around a favorite subject, practicing how to create a collection of photos that feels creative and connected. Learn Basic Editing Techniques: We’ll introduce simple editing tools like exposure, color balance, and contrast, along with how to prepare images for black-and-white photography. Try Collaborative Editing: Students can edit one of my photos—and I’ll edit one of theirs! We'll focus on how both good photography and thoughtful editing work together to make a great final image. Take on Fun Challenges: Toward the end of the course, students will complete creative photo challenges designed to push their skills and encourage using live subjects (like friends, family, or pets) whenever possible. This course is led by me, Erika Hatfield. I bring real-world photography experience and a passion for helping students grow creatively while having fun with their cameras. The self-paced format means students can learn when it works best for them, but still have the option to post questions, share work, and get feedback and support inside the classroom. There are no live Zoom meetings—everything is taught through video lessons, demonstrations, and visual slides. Students are encouraged to pause the videos often and head out with their cameras to put what they’re learning into practice right away! 🎓 About the Creative Photo Intensive Series This series is designed to grow with your learner over time: Creative Photo Intensive 1: Amazing Shots with Phones or Cameras (4 Weeks) Creative Photo Intensive 2: Explore Film Styles, Editing & Visual Variety (6 Weeks) Creative Photo Intensive 3: Advanced Lighting + Creative Control (8 Weeks) Together, the full series creates an 18-week photography journey that builds strong, creative photographers one step at a time. 🚀 Ready to level up your skills?
