Sound It Out: Fun With Consonant Blends!

Phonics is an excellent way to step into reading. Each week, we will introduce a new letter-sound combination like ck, cl, gr, and more, helping young readers build a strong foundation. This is a great class for students continuing to learn to read or looking to reinforce their skills.

Students will be taught each letter sound with a highly structured approach. We’ll review sounds isolation, identify the sounds, categorize them, blend them into words, practice segmentation, and more. Students will respond as a group, participate in interactive activities, and receive individual guidance as needed.

Before you know it, your young reader will start to feel more confident in reading and recognizing many different letter-sound combinations. Imagine all the exciting books and adventures you can explore together with your accomplished reader as they progress!

🍎 Learners should know their capital and lowercase letters and their letter sounds and how to read basic CVC words before joining this class. For help with mastering these skills, please see some of my other class listings.

✏️ Learners will need a whiteboard, a dry erase marker (a pencil and paper will suffice) and a slinky (a rubber band will do).
