Students will be in charge of assessing themselves for growth in mindset, strength and flexibility.Class Experience
In this class, your teen will be taught yoga postures, participate in mindfulness activities, and use breathing techniques to help calm the mind and the nervous system. This yoga practice is built to promote stress relief, improve flexibility, and increase strength while increasing self-confidence and body awareness. Each class will begin slow, increase momentum, and then slow back down to allow for cooling off and deep relaxation (Savasana). Your teen will be given the opportunity to interact with peers throughout the class but may choose to "pass" should they feel like skipping their turn. Keeping true to the definition of an ongoing class, each class can stand alone. The material will not build upon itself. Therefore, your teen can join/leave/join again anytime. January Themes: New Intentions/New Goals, Winter Solstice, Gratitude, Physical Health February Themes: Breath, Centering, Posture, Tension. March: Tension, Nutrition, Sensations, Emotions April: Eclipse *Yoga is non-religious. It is the union of mind, body, and soul. True yoga is done on and off the mat. This class was created to teach teens that “doing yoga” is far more than stretching and poses. It is about being a good person to yourself and others.
Learning Goals
If your teen spends time outside of class practicing yoga postures (poses), they should notice an improvement in flexibility and increase their strength. My hope is that your teen enjoys the class and uses what they learn to better their life.

Parental Guidance
You understand that yoga includes physical movement and, as is the case with any physical activity, the risk of injury, even serious or disabling, is always present and cannot be entirely eliminated. By participating, you acknowledge that your child is fit to do so. If they experience any pain or discomfort, they agree to listen to their body and discontinue the activity. You assume full responsibility for any and all damages, which may occur through participation. Yoga is not a substitute for medical attention, examination, diagnosis or treatment.
