In this Summer Camp learners will learn the fundamentals of melody/lyric writing and arranging, and have an outlet to perform your creations.

Class Experience

9 lessons//3 Weeks
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Introduction
* Bring anything that you've written in the past you would like to show (not required) * Lesson: Chord Progressions; Components of a Song
Lesson 2
Group Song Layout
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson: As a group we will write a few song layouts together * Homework: Learners can pick one of the song layouts and use it as a template for their own song to work on for the next meeting
Lesson 3
Great Story Lines/Intro to Lyric Writing
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson: How to come up with great story lines for songs/Intro to Lyric Writing * Breakout Rooms: Come up with different story liners together based on the lesson * Groups can share with the rest of the group what they came up with. * Homework: Learners can pick one of the story lines to work on for the next meeting or work on their own idea.
 Week 2
Lesson 4
Song Analysis
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson/Analyzing Songs: What instruments do you hear? What stands out to you musically within these songs? What are some similarities and differences? * Homework: Learners can work on their own ideas they are currently working on
Lesson 5
What is a Hit Song
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson: What is a hit song? How can you tell if a song will stand the test of time? * Homework: Learners can work on their own ideas they are currently working on
Lesson 6
Lyric Writing/Group Writing Prompts
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson: More in depth Lyric Writing/Group Writing Prompts (to be worked on in breakout rooms) * Groups can perform for the class what they worked on together (not required) * Homework: Learners will pick different prompts to work on for next class
 Week 3
Lesson 7
Group Writing Prompts
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson: Writing Prompt (to be worked on in breakout rooms) * Groups can perform for the class what they worked on together (not required) * Homework: Learners will pick different prompts to work on for next class
Lesson 8
Cover Songs
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson: What makes a successful cover song? Each learner will practice making a song into their own during class
Lesson 9
This Business of Music/Conclusion
* Learners have the opportunity (not required) to share what they are working on either their own song or something from the homework assignment * Lesson: Music Business: How to Copyright your song; What are royalties? What is a P.R.O.? * Conclusion
I have been offering lessons since I was 17 years old. I have experience teaching Piano Lessons; Vocal Lessons; Songwriting Classes; Music Production and Music Business Courses.

Professionally I am a grammy balloted recording artist and producer; I've charted in the Top 100 in 6 different countries on several projects that I've worked on and produced; One album I worked on debuted at #2 on the NAR Radio Charts and stayed in Top 10 for 3 months; I've performed and produced at Carnegie Hall; worked with top producers at the Jim Henson Studios in California; and have had many sync licenses that have aired on networks such as The History Channel; The Learning Channel; Fitness Channel; WE Network.
