Description
Class Experience
At the end of camp, students will know their way around the main triads in the key of C. They'll have basic left hand and right hand skills, and they'll have made some friends in songwriting along the way!
MIDI keyboard The keyboard I personally have is this 32 key by Alesis: https://www.guitarcenter.com/Alesis/Q-Mini-32-Key-USB-MIDI-Controller.gc This is a great option for the low end of the price range at $59 - and I recommend it because it comes with several free software, including 60 free piano lessons through a desktop app called Melodics. Otherwise, you can use this Amazon link to search MIDI keyboards at the $25-$50 range: https://www.amazon.com/midi-keyboard/s?k=midi+keyboard&rh=n%3A11091801%2Cp_36%3A1253546011&dc&qid=1652483340&rnid=386685011&ref=sr_nr_p_36_2
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
3 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
This class will use Chrome Music Lab - a free, easily accessible online software that will work together with your student's MIDI keyboard. There is no setup or account required to use the Chrome Music Lab. Students will simply plug in their keyboard and open the web page and they will be ready to play. I will provide students and parents with instructions on using the "screen record" function of their computer - and I ask that parents take time to review this with their students *BEFORE* the first day of class. This will enable students to easily share their work and ideas with each other throughout the course of camp.
