Description
Class Experience
Students will be given specific techniques and knowledge to begin writing music at a professional level. They will learn the basic components of all songs so that they can incorporate this knowledge into their own music and art.
Songwriting can be very personal and scary to share with others. As an experienced musician and songwriter I am very sensitive to the personal nature of songwriting and sharing ideas with others. As an experienced teacher, I always do my best to create a safe environment where collaboration is helpful and never hurtful.
Begin to brainstorm what you like most about your favorite songs. Is it the lyrics, melody, rhythm? It's okay if you're not sure yet!
Your voice or an instrument. Pen and paper. Creativity!
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
