What's included
4 live meetings
3 in-class hoursClass Experience
Students that are familiar with note reading and playing on all four strings (including high and low two finger patterns) of the violin are encouraged to sign up! On average, this would be students that have been playing the violin for a year. Students will be provided a song packet prior to the first class. This packet will include the sheet music for all four songs we will learn. I will walk students through good sight-reading practices such as checking the key and time signatures, counting the rhythms, and any other techniques or musical roadmaps they need to watch out for. Then we will play one section at a time through the song, gradually bringing the song up to tempo. By the end of class, we will play the entire song start to finish (with harmony backing tracks) Due to latency issues on Zoom, students will be muted while we are playing together so that they can hear me leading the class. However, students will be given the opportunity to unmute themselves to ask or answer questions and play passages of the songs if they wish. Monday, Dec.14: Jingle Bell Rock Wednesday, Dec. 16: Frosty the Snowman Monday, Dec. 21: We Wish You A Merry Christmas Wednesday, Dec. 23: Carol of the Bells

Teacher expertise and credentials
Georgia Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Hi, my name is Ms. Caitlin. I have been teaching private music lessons since 2011. My primary instrument is the violin, but I also play the piano and other string instruments. I have a Master of Music with a major in violin performance from Memorial University of Newfoundland. I also hold a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Music Education from Stetson University, and I have an active teaching license in Florida for K-12 Music. While the violin is my primary instrument, I also teach string orchestra and piano. Growing up, I was classically trained, but I also play other genres including fiddle, contemporary, and worship, all in addition to playing in my regional symphony orchestra.
I believe that music is for everyone, and my role as a teacher is to help guide the student towards their own goals and successes. I am open to hearing a student's personal interests and questions to guide our learning process.
When I am not playing music, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, and crafting. While I have recently lived in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, I now live in Connecticut and teach in a classroom full-time.
*** Please be patient when it comes to messages. As I teach a full-time job in addition to Outschool, I will not be able to reply instantly.***
If you don’t see a section of a class at a time that works for you, please send me a schedule request. If you are interested in one of my classes listed outside of your learner’s age bracket, message me about the possibility of creating a class at a suitable age. That said, the youngest I am comfortable teaching online violin is age 7, and the youngest online piano students that I will teach is age 5.
