American Sign Language classes can teach your child a foreign language, introduce them to the Deaf community and culture, and build their spatial and linguistic skills. On top of all that, learning is fun and highly interactive! In this weekly class, students will learn signs related to various topics and practice using them in simple conversations. Students will actively participate throughout the lesson by echo signing, responding to the teacher, and interacting with other students. Then, we will apply the new signs to learning a kid-friendly song. Class topics and songs will be updated every four weeks. Come and sign with us! Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Michelle Wierman. Welcome to my ASL classes! I have a B.S. in Social Studies Education from NYU, and an M.S.Ed in Deaf Education from Western Maryland College, with a concentration in American Sign Language. As a public school educator, I was the chairperson of my department, developing curriculum and mentoring teachers. When I began homeschooling my own children, I continued my work as an instructor, leading cooperative learning communities and teaching students of all ages. I have 10 years of experience as an ASL interpreter and my areas of expertise include teaching foundational American Sign Language, history, and English Language Arts.
Teaching children and expanding the community of ASL users are at the heart of everything I do at Stellar ASL Online. I offer a self-paced ASL program and Interactive LIVE Courses for children of all ages. I believe hands-on, interactive instruction is the best way to support learning and provide students with the opportunity to apply their skills. I look forward to working closely with your child to build their love of learning and expertise in ASL class!
