Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
The student will learn... 1) create a poem in a regular meter 2) create rhythm associated with the lyrics 3) develop a melody that fits with the rhythm of the lyrics 4) designate the chords that fit with the melody 5) make finishing touches to the song 6) present to the group on the last day 7) positively review other student's songs
The student will have specific assignments after each of the first 3 class sessions. These assignments are very important as the student will build on them to complete a simple song at the conclusion of the 4th session.
Spiral notebook or writing composition notebook 2-3 pencils and a pencil sharpener big eraser printouts of PDFs from the instructor Parental oversight for Youtube audio-visual assignments. (These will be screened for inappropriate content prior to assignment.)
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The student will be assessed by: 1) attentiveness and participation in class; 2) completion of audio-visual listening assignments; 3) completion of the assignments between class sessions; 4) submission of the simple song at the conclusion of the class.
3 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
