Class Experience

Did you know that some fish carry their own flashlight for living in the deep dark ocean? Did you know that sometimes the sea water can glow in the dark? Have you ever seen an insect that glows in the dark?

These are examples of bioluminescence. Animals exhibiting this characteristic have special chemistry that allows them to glow in the dark. Why do they do this? Learn about how and where bioluminescence is used by nature.

No background knowledge is required for this fun, single-session course. There will be no homework. Learner progress will be evaluated based on participation in the group discussion about this fascinating topic.
