Description

Class Experience

I've been a backyard chicken-keeper for three years. I read voraciously on the topic of chickens, and strive to keep my birds as safe and healthy as possible. I recognize that there are many opinions about best practices for keeping chickens, and that what works for some people might not work for others. I strive to cultivate an atmosphere of respect and compassion in all my classroom settings, and this class is certainly no different.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Some stories of chickens dying may be traumatic. Anyone who keeps chickens knows that they can die suddenly and often gruesomely. Since this class is intended as a safe space for children to discuss and grieve the loss of their pet chickens, the conversations might involve details of a bird's health issues or predator attacks.
